As the founder of The Neuro-Affirming Coach, LLC, I combine my personal lived experience as a neurodivergent professional with over 20 years of expertise in vocational rehabilitation and special education. With a Master of Education in Special Education and certifications as a Board Certified Coach and Certified Autism Specialist.
My coaching is rooted in the belief that social and professional success shouldn't be a guessing game. By merging my academic background with the technical protocols of PEERS® and Thrive-Ability, I help my clients replace the exhaustion of masking with a repeatable, sustainable "source code" for career success.

As a teenager, I discovered a strong interest in supporting students with disabilities, which led me to pursue a career in Special Education. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Individualized Study in Special Education from James Madison University, allowing me to become a Dual Endorsed Special Education Teacher (K–12 General and Adapted) in Virginia. I am currently a Master of Education student at the University of Virginia, completing the course sequence toward becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). I have three years of experience teaching in a classroom setting.
As a PEERS Young Adult Facilitator, I bring my experience as an educator to foster meaningful social skill development in young adults. I believe in a multi-modal approach to teaching that includes hands-on practice and real-life application of skills. I also prioritize building students’ self-confidence and supporting their individual growth and independence.

I began my career as a Montessori educator, where I was trained to foster independence, self-discipline, and a love for learning through careful observation and tailored experiences. My work focused on holistic development—creating "prepared environments" that provide concrete, hands-on opportunities for growth.

As the parent of a neurodivergent young adult, I bring more than just professional training to my coaching; I bring a wealth of practical, real-life experience. I understand the daily joys and complexities of navigating a neurotypical world from the inside out, and I use that lived perspective to ensure my coaching is both deeply empathetic and grounded in reality.

In a landscape that moves at the speed of a scroll, I make sure we’re never trailing behind. Whether it’s spotting the next viral TikTok trend before it hits the mainstream or breaking down exactly why a killer Reel on Instagram is capturing everyone's attention, I live and breathe the "now."

In the world of neuro-affirming support, there is often a tug-of-war between "what the data says" and "how the person feels." My goal is to end that conflict.
My background provides the foundation for this balance:

My background provides the foundation for this balance:
I don't believe in "one-size-fits-all" metrics. I believe in using data to honor the person, ensuring that every strategy we implement is both clinically sound and personally meaningful. Whether we are building a "Launchpad" for a young graduate or helping an adult find new motivation, I’m here to make sure the path is backed by evidence and driven by empathy.

Aurora got a ruff start in life, but landed on her paws when she joined the Neuro-Affirming Coach. Her primary responsibilities include guarding our office and protecting our team from evil-doers. She is also known to occasionally crash a zoom meeting to see what's going on and how she can help out.
